Diving into the Future of FEI Research & Practice Areas - December’s Year-End C4FE

DECEMBER 10, 2024 11:00 – 3:00 ET

Thank you to those who were able to attend this unique December C4FE. In this session, we had the privilege of hearing from key contributors to FEI’s Research & Practice Areas. What made this session truly unique was the focus on the ‘why.’ Participants shared their personal stories, revealing what excites and inspires them about their work, and why they chose to become part of different FEI’s Research & Practice Areas.

We heard from:

Stephen Davies on Systemic Management Innovations (starts at 8:56)
Manuel Riemer on Municipalities Adapting in Response to Complexity Partnership (starts at 29:03)
Lauren Vincent on Low Carbon Resilience Approach (starts at 36:31)
Daniela Senkl on Context-Based Sustainability Method (starts at 43:51)
Mark Brodrick on Context-Based Sustainability Method (starts at 54:04)
Bernd Herbert on Enterprise Evolution Program (starts at 1:08:15)

Short overview of the Research & Practice Areas:

Systemic Management Innovations (SMIs)
SMIs include management knowledge, methods, and tools that apply systems theory to recast how one or more aspects of strategic management are understood and practiced. Designed to match the complexity of our world, we are focused on increasing the adoption of individual SMIs by clearly defining and raising awareness of this emerging field of innovation.

Enterprise Evolution Program (EE)
EE is a capability development program designed to enable senior leaders to respond to increasing complexity by transitioning toward systemic, strategic management practices. This tailored, dialogic and reflexive experience helps leaders recognize the risk of relying on conventional management practices and build their motivation to adapt.

Context-Based Sustainability (CBS) Method
CBS is an integrated and equity-informed management accounting method for authentically measuring an entity’s performance against science- and ethics-based sustainability thresholds. We are focused on applying and studying the impact of CBS in the field as part of establishing its potential to transform how effectively organizations measure and manage sustainability performance.

Municipalities Adapting in Response to Complexity (MARC) Partnership
MARC is an ambitious, international learning and innovation partnership that includes municipal staff and sector NGOs, academics and systemic innovators. MARC is dedicated to enabling municipalities to better respond to the complex issues challenging communities by adapting strategic management practices.
